Abg Johari given 67th birthday do surprise

KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg received a surprise birthday celebration for his 67th birthday upon his arrival at the lobby of Wisma Bapa Malaysia here yesterday.

The chief minister was all smiles when he was welcomed by Wisma Bapa Malaysia officers and staff who sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to him to celebrate the special occasion.

A prayer for Abang Johari’s health was also held before he cut his birthday cake.

Abang Johari, who celebrated his birthday on Aug 4, also received a token of appreciation from State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Morshidi Abdul Ghani during the celebration.

Among those present were Deputy State Secretary Datu Dr Sabariah Putit and State Attorney General Talat Mahmood Abdul Rashid.

Meanwhile, Abang Johari later received courtesy calls from a delegation of Sanyan Wood Industries Sdn Bhd led by its executive chairman Datuk Mohammad Tufail Mahmud and the main committee of the 5th Asia Pacific Conference on Public Health 2017.

The committee’s visit, led by state Health Department director Dr Jamilah Hashim, was to invite the chief minister to officiate at the conference which will be held at Riverside Majestic on Sept 11.

During the visit, the state government contributed RM135,000 for the main committee to organise the conference which will see the participation of around 650 public health specialists from Malaysia and overseas.

Also present were Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian and conference committee chairman Dr Sha’ari Ngadiman, who is also Pahang Health director.
